Building Committee Activity

The Building Committee has been reviewing the surveys completed by our members and friends and is compiling the results for submittal to our architect. Additional surveys have been made ready for completion by the church ministries (music, education, fellowship, etc.) and our staff. Completion of all these surveys will provide us with the details necessary to properly direct the architect as preliminary drawings are started. We expect to be meeting with the architect toward the middle of summer. At that time we will provide the information gathered allowing the actual design process to begin.

The architect has completed a survey of the existing structure and produced drawings of it so that the new elements can be properly attached. The architect is in the process of gathering up to date information from the County’s building department to assure compliance with all building and safety codes as the design process moves forward.

If you have questions or suggestions about the design process, please speak with a Building Committee member. Thank you.

We’re On a Treasure Hunt

Remember when you were a kid and you got a list of items and then had to go out and find them all. That is what we are doing at RCLPC. We have noticed that we are missing some of our newest tablecloths and some of the old tablecloths too. We are also missing some napkins from communion, and even a few dish towels. So, we would ask that you search out the bottom of your hampers or the back of your closets in case some of these items were forgotten or just pushed to the back. If you are successful in the hunt, please bring them back to the church and you will be rewarded. Proverbs 14:14 Good people will be rewarded for their deeds.

PowerPoint Ministry

The PowerPoint ministry team needs your help. If you are able to donate your time and energy to create and run the PowerPoint slides for Sunday worship at either the 8:30 service or the two traditional services at 9:30 & 11:00, we have several time slots open for summer worship. Please contact Kim Stewart in the office at 815-459-1132 or email her at office@rclpc.org We would appreciate any time you can give to this vital ministry that helps to enhance our worship experience.

Reverse Mission

Joy Martin will be making a reverse mission journey to Rosebud and Pine Ridge Indian Reservations on June 20th with a group from Fourth Presbyterian. If you would like to send a donation with her for the work of the White Buffalo Calf Woman Shelter, please let her know. A brochure is on the bulletin board in the Connecting Link.

Share the Bounty

Hey all you June-bugs! It’s not too late to start a garden, and while you’re at it, sow a few extra seeds to support our “Share the Bounty” table. All this rain has done wonders for our veggie and perennial gardens, and we’re predicting a bountiful array of produce this season. And please don’t forget to bring in your extra cut flowers: iris, peony, roses, etc. All make beautiful table decorations. Thank you for your support in this important mission! Mission Outreach

Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social – June 24, 6:30-8:30pm

The third annual RCLPC Cookie Lift Ice Cream Social at the Woodstock City Band Concert is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM. It will be better than ever because this year we will feature Culver's chocolate and vanilla frozen custard and toppings! Can you help? Please contact Mary Moltmann and Ed Bennett. We will need:
  1. bakers who will bake 5 dozen cookies or brownies
  2. at least 8 greeters, 2 will stand at each of the 4 park entrances from 6:45 PM - 7:45 PM, welcome concert goers and inform them that the proceeds will be used to send care packages to the Woodstock National Guard in Afghanistan and RCLPC's other troops in Middle East
  3. several cookie sellers in shifts from 6:30 - 7:30 PM and 7:30 - 8:30 PM
  4. someone who will bring one of RCLPC's longer rectangular tables to the park and return it to RCLPC after the Social is over
  5. concert goers to come and buy cookies!

Thanks for Supporting Our Troops!!

Thanks to everyone who contributed items for the Dog Days of Summer care packages that will go to RCLPC's soldiers and the Woodstock National Guard in the Middle East - the boxes are on their way. We just found out that the last day to send mail to them is June 15 - so this is wonderful news - they are coming home sooner than had been expected! Please keep them and all of the troops in your prayers. Thanks, Mary Moltmann and Ed Bennett

Meals on Wheels

We are involved in mission in many different ways—one of those is the Meals on Wheels program. This is hands-on involvement that costs us only a little bit of our time (1-1/2 - 2 hours). Meals on Wheels provides regular contact with the elderly, and the primary goal is to help people remain in their home as long as possible. This is a ministry that would not be able to operate without volunteers from this and other congregations. Our participation is a vital contribution to this program. If you feel you could join others from this congregation in providing delivery service during the week of June 22 - June 26, please call Marina Hoffman or sign up in the Connecting Link. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

Letter from Session

Dear friends,

Thank you to everyone who attended our learning and dialogue opportunities regarding membership in the Covenant Network: WEAVE, Movie Night - "For the Bible Tells Me So", Sunday morning class and the Town Hall Meeting. The congregation voiced words of support, as well as the need for further clarifying information about becoming a Covenant Network Congregation. RCLPC has always celebrated our life together no matter what our differences, and our hope is we will always remain a voice for love, grace and acceptance for all.

The Session is looking into concerns raised and plans to respond in the near future with answers to the bigger questions. We will be prayerfully considering all the information prior to a final decision.

Sincerely,
The Session

Notes from the Welcoming Team

The Welcoming Team is going to create a pictorial directory of RCLPC members and friends. Anyone who attends our little church should be ready to be asked to either have a photograph taken or submit one of your own for posting in our new directory. Kim has sent several updated versions to all of us recently. None of them have pictures. That is about to change. Beginning sometime around mid-June, the Welcoming Team, (Laurie Pohl, Dorothy Vick, Dave Steele, Jean Joslyn and Dave Palmer) will set up in Fellowship Hall for the purpose of getting pictures of everyone at RCLPC. We’ll be getting those to Kim to put in the directory and as soon as we have everyone, it’ll be sent out. The directory will be able to be updated as often as necessary. It won’t be part of our website. The directory will be sent as an attachment to an e-mail and will be able to be downloaded to your computer. Information will be safe and secure. We’ll be set up in Fellowship Hall, with Sundays to be determined, to get that perfect shot for all to admire. We’ll also be asking you to verify, add to or delete from the information that is already in the directory. And, of course, if you have a picture that you really want as part of the directory, it can be scanned and returned to you. If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact those of us on the Welcoming Team.
