Ladies Advent Dessert Night
Kathy Rabe and Dale Prindiville coordinated a Ladies Advent Dessert Night recently at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church. Each table was decorated by a woman who volunteered to be the hostess for that table, and everyone heard the message of Advent, enjoyed a delicious homemade dessert, and were entertained and served by the the RCLPC Men's Group. Pastry Chef at Tarts and Truffles Offers Cookie Decorating Class to RCLPC
Debra Mindham, owner of Tarts and Truffles, 140 Cass St., Woodstock Square, recently gave a Cookie Decorating Class organized by Deacon Ed Bennett for members and friends of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church. Debra has trained at the Wilton Masters Cake Decorating School and Elgin Community College to study as a pastry chef. Debra and her staff gave each of the 21 participants three baked cookies, a pastry bag, icings, and fondant, and taught the students how to decorate festive cookies for their annual Cookie Walk.  Youth Sunday at RCLPC
The youth of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church recently planned and carried out the worship for all three Sunday services, providing music, drama, Scripture reading, and a sermon that centered on the theme, "Live It." Interfaith Celebration: "Giving Thanks -- Sharing the Blessing"
On Sunday, Nov. 23, the Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church hosted the second annual Community Interfaith Celebration titled "Giving Thanks--Sharing the Blessing." The event provided spiritual leaders from various faiths throughout the area the opportunity to collectively offer thanks and to seek donations to area food banks. RCLPC Sends Christmas Stockings to National Guard Unit in Afghanistan
Members and friends of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church packed Christmas stockings with items contributed by church and community members for the soldiers of Delta Company, 1st Battalion, 178th Infantry Regiment that recently deployed from the Woodstock Armory for Afghanistan.  RCLPC Will Hold Global Gift Shop on November 16, 2008
The Mission Outreach Ministry of Ridgefield-Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, 8505 Church St., will sponsor a fair trade gift shop on Sunday, November 16, from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Ten Thousand Villages from Grayslake will bring home décor, personal accessories, and gift items handcrafted by artisans from around the world. Handmade articles from Hands Along the Nile and Fairhaven School in Egypt will also be available, as well as fairly traded coffee, tea, and chocolate bars.

 Choir Director Emily Floyd Accepts New Position
Emily Floyd, Children’s Choir Director at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, has accepted the position of Director of Music Ministries at Shallowford Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, Georgia. RCLPC Church Picnic
The Men's Group at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church sponsored the Church Picnic in the Meadow. The men grilled meat and veggie burgers and furnished the beverages, and members brought a dish to pass. Games with prizes, a moonwalk, and a pinata added to the fun.  Anna Zoerner to Attend Project Burning Bush
Anna Zoerner (left), member of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, will be attending Project Burning Bush from June 29th - July 12, 2008 where she will consider her call to ministry by studying with faculty and peers at Union Theological Seminary & Presbyterian School of Christian Education in Richmond, Virginia. They live together on campus and use their gifts in areas such as worship, drama, video, recreation, mission and music as they take classes in Bible, Christian education, spiritual practices, and contemporary ethics so they can experience what seminary is like. Rev. Teri Peterson (above right) conducted the Commissioning of Anna during worship on Sunday, June 22.
Cookie Lift Project at RCLPC Sponsors Float in Memorial Day Parade to Support the Troops
The Cookie Lift Project at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church sponsored a float in the Woodstock Memorial Day Parade to support the troops. Members and friends passed out candy to the people and biscuits to the dogs who lined the parade route, keeping with the theme of the summer packages to help the troops cope with the Dog Days of Summer in Iraq. People wishing to donate items such as saline nose drops, wet wipes, sunblock, or flavor packets for water can bring them to the Church at 8505 Church St. in Ridgefield. RCLPC Gears Up for Vacation Bible School
"Beach Party: Surfin' Thru the Scriptures"
Jodi Iddings and Denise Sokoloski, co-chairs, have announced that Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church, 8505 Church St. (just north of McHenry County College) is sponsoring Vacation Bible School from June 23 - 27 from 9:00 AM until 12 Noon for children ages 3 (must be potty trained) through 5th grade. The theme is "Surfin Thru the Scriptures," and the enrollment fee is $15.00 each for the first two children and $10.00 for each additional child.  Youth Are Confirmed
Youth in the Confirmation Class at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church recently were confirmed after completing a nine-month class led by Associate Pastor Teri Peterson. Adult leaders included Laura Gilmore, Rick Johnson, and Dave Steele, mentors included Rob Baser, Al Esche, Nancy Koenig, Frank Lopuszynski, and Joy Martin, and peer mentors included Kayleigh Jensen, Matt Hillmann, and Carl Wesa. Pentecost
On Sunday May 11, Pentecost Sunday, Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church celebrated the coming of the Holy Spirit to the early church. During worship members and friends came to the front of the sanctuary to put their completed Time and Talents Survey in a basket as an offering to serve God. The Church was decorated with a mobile of cranes and a banner made of strips of fabric to simulate flames of fire.

Teachers Recognized at RCLPC

Girl Scout Cookies Sent to Troops in Iraq
Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church recently mailed 278 boxes of Girl Scout cookies to troops serving in the Middle East. Cookies were donated by Church members and friends, employees of McHenry County College, and over 100 boxes and hand made cards were collected by Huntley Girl Scout Junior Troop #789 and Huntley Girl Scout Brownie Troop #788.  Offering of Letters
On April 6 members of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church wrote brief letters to their elected officials to ask them to pass the Global Poverty Act (S.2433) to make the goal of cutting in half the number of hungry people and those living on less than $1 per day an official part of U.S. policy. New Elders to Serve at RCLPC
New elders were recently elected to serve in the class of 2010 for Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church: Barb Dolmon, Lois Johnson, Mary Moltmann, and Tom Lilly.
The new elders will join the previously elected elders on the Session to assist in the government of the Church, and to work in the Worship, Education, Stewardship, and Administration Committees.

 RCLPC Prepares Easter Baskets for Home of the Sparrow
On Palm Sunday the youth of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church filled Easter baskets for the 36 children and 16 women at Home of Sparrow. The adults who helped are in the back row left to right: Wendy Sanders, Debi Keyzer, Raechel Sowa, and Susan Zacher.
 Eco-Palms at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church
On Palm Sunday members and friends attending Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church waved eco-palms to remember Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem. Enough For Everyone of the Presbyterian Church (USA) has partnered with Lutheran World Relief, Catholic Relief Services and the University of Minnesota to introduce congregations to this social and environmental justice project. The communities are committed to using harvesting practices that minimize the impact on the natural forest, and eco-palm harvesters sort and package the palms themselves and sell their palms directly so that they improve local communities’ standards of living and ensure that the money paid for the palms benefit those who labor.
 Easter Cards for the Troops
Members of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church made Easter cards to include with care packages to their troops in the Middle East.
30-Hour Famine
The Senior High Youth at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church participated in a 30-Hour Famine under the leadership of Associate Pastor Teri Peterson Feb. 22 and 23. They drank only fruit juice while learning about world hunger, collecting food on a Scavenger Hunt, and delivering it to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. The youth also collected money to send to World Vision to help feed hungry children around the world. For information 815 459-1132.

RCLPC Youth Break Record
On Souperbowl of Caring Sunday the youth at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church broke their former record and collected $1460.00 and 354 of the most needed items for the Crystal Lake Food Pantry. Way to go!
 Valentines to Troops in Middle East
Members and friends of Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church recently sent Valentines Day care packages to their six troops who are serving in the Middle East. For information: 815 459-1132.
 Senior Highs Hold Bake Sale
The Senior High Youth at Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church held a bake sale on Jan. 13 to raise money for their 2008 summer mission trip.
